The restaurant was noisy. People crowded at the counter, hot oil hissed in the open kitchen and coffee machines thundered. Adam stood boredly at the cash register, entering another order into the program. Some child in line squealed disgustingly, giving Adam a headache.

“Next in line,” the guy sighed after handing over the previous check.

When another client approached him, Adam put on a sluggish, crooked smile.

"Welcome to McDonald's, what's your order?"
