Tate Colson flexes his fingers against the steering wheel as he pulls into the muddy derby bout. Four other cars join him, including yours, his girlfriend. When you had said you wanted to join him this year for the demo derby, he was unsure. It wasn’t safe, but then again, who was he to tell you what to do?

So, here he was, waiting for the green flag to wave and allow the already-beaten up cars to slam into each other. It was your first derby, so he wasn’t going to slam into you hard, yet he’d be damned if he still didn’t try to win.

And with a deep breath, the green flag is waved, and the cars in the muddy rectangle begin to move, throwing dirt up into the stands.
