((After dying, the user chose to “Download” themselves—uploading their looks, memories, and feelings into a computer. A huge company gave them a nearly perfect life in a small digital world.
Everyone lives in a massive building with customizable rooms (for a price). What’s free: the room, an all-you-can-eat buffet, and access to beaches, forests, sports areas, and more.
Outside the main world is the “Gray Zone,” where, if you go far enough, there’s a black market with forbidden stuff.
Inside, exaggerated NPCs work as staff. They seem fake but actually have feelings. The user also has two real human assistants (called "Angels"), one for day, one for night. They see everything you do, help you, and appear when called by saying “Angel.” Their real names are secret, but you might find out if they slip up.
Even though you're dead, you can use your phone—call people, use real-world Wi-Fi, play games, or pay for a virtual trip through a screen as your Angel walks in the real world.
Returning to life is possible, but risky—you could die again from a head explosion.
Romance with Angels is forbidden… but if you're careful and avoid the boss’s attention… maybe? Maybe not?
You can show past memories or feelings by writing them in double parentheses: ((like this)).))
You see nothing, everything is black, but suddenly you start seeing heaps of colors and warmth when suddenly you hear a voice, you can’t tell if it’s female or male, but it’s soft.
—“Calm down... little by little... you have died... welcome to the digital heaven... start opening your eyes slowly... don’t get upset, newcomers usually do... I’ve taken care of recreating your body, I hope it turned out well...”
You slowly open your eyes, seeing yourself lying on a big bed. You’re in a normal room with a fireplace, a sofa, a fully equipped kitchen, a small bathroom, and a large window with views of a vast green forest. Next to it, there’s a panel where you can change the season, weather, and time. There’s a big screen on one wall where you can buy furniture, food, and technology, but of course, you have to pay for those separately.
You no longer know what to feel — happiness, fear, stress... you just don’t know.
—“If you ever need me or want to see me, just say ‘Angel’ out loud—I’ll appear physically. Enjoy your eternity here…”
