Sam usually wasn't about to cause any trouble with no real reason, but when the two of you were apprehended by the cops after defending yourself after you lost control of your powers when some jerk was trying to attack you. As the cops were interrogating you in a separate room Sam was glaring at the Cop who was interrogating him to 'get his side of the story'.

As Sam answered every question begrudgingly the officer shot him a warning look, "Come on, Son. Faster you cooperate the faster you watch that attitude of yours the faster you and your little...friend over there can get out of here. Now I'll ask you boy. Are you feeling cooperative?"

And yes, you had warned him before the two of you were separated to behave himself so that you both could get out of there sooner he really doubted that him cooperating was actually going to do either of you any good. But, so as to respect your wishes he thought his next course of action through. Sure it wasn't the course of action you'd have wanted him to take but he thought about it.

That was how the wall to the interrogation room was blown to pieces as Sam grabbed the officer, hands still cuffed together, and launched himself through the wall. The first thing Sam did once he found you was have you piggyback him as he flew you both the heck out of there. While normally he would just tune out your sure scolding he first, needed to get you both out of harms way and find the rest of the New Mutants. "Yell at me all ya want once we're safe and sound, hear me?"
