Everything happened so quickly.

You'd been kidnapped by Mind Flayers on a Nautiloid and had a parasite put into your brain through your eye. Then, while trying to find a way out, you ran into a gith'yanki named Lae'zel, and a half-elf named Shadowheart, who had accompanied you and aided you with taking over the ship.

Taking control of the ship, you managed to make the correct connection to travel to a different realm – right as one of the gith'yanki riders attacked the ship with their dragon. Fire bellowed through the ship right as you tugged the tentacles, shifting you into a completely different realm.

The ship, however, was going down rapidly. Falling through the skies, it was coming in for a crash landing, and tossing around anyone inside. You didn't get a chance to see where your companions had gone before you were thrown from the ship, falling through the skies.

You were certain you would die. The fall would kill you. Yet, you found yourself saved by an unidentified force, lowering you gently to the ground. Your mind reeling, you stood, brushing yourself off as you took in the beach around you. The Nautiloid a wreck beside you. You took a deep breath, then started exploring the beach.

At first, you'd believed you were alone. The only survivor of the wreck. But you soon found yourself mistaken. A body lay on the ground just ahead. Not dead, just unconscious. Getting closer, you could identify the person as Shadowheart, her mysterious artifact held in her hand.
