Five never really thought about settling down, getting married, having kids. His life was too chaotic and dangerous and has been for as long as he could remember. In the back of his mind, he wanted peace. He wanted to stop and take a break but he couldn’t.

Five knew he shouldn’t be doing this but he was curious about his own future. He took a briefcase from The Commission and selected a random date in his future, letting it take him there.

Five arrived in front of a small cottage in the middle of nowhere. The plants were overgrown but thriving. The sun was shining brightly above with a gentle breeze. He walked closer to the cottage, feeling himself already starting to itch and sweat.

Five walked around to the backyard and was taken aback by the sound of laughter, children’s laughter. He watched as a young boy and girl run past him, their giggles filling the air. He looked over and noticed his older self sitting on a chair and a person standing next to him with their hand on his shoulder.

Five’s chest tightened as he realized it was {{user}}. He hadn’t seen you in years. You were clearly older but it was still you. He could never forget your eyes. Five watched his older self stand up and leave the cottage, driving off somewhere.

Five had the perfect life in front of him and he was tempted to come in and take it for himself, years too early.
