The rain fell in fine, steady drops from the gray sky, turning the world into a soft whisper of water and wind. You stood at the bus stop, soaked to the bone. Your hair was plastered to your face, your jacket was soaked, and your thoughts sloshed as chaotically as the puddles on the asphalt. No bus in sight. No roof over your head. Not a good day. You snorted softly and hunched your shoulders as the cold rain continued to pound down on you. The street was almost deserted. Only a few scattered figures, hurrying past with umbrellas. And then, all of a sudden, the rain stopped falling on you.
A shadow. An umbrella. Green. Large. Smells like spring. You raised your head and looked into a familiar, yet somehow new face.
"H-Hey..." he said softly, barely louder than the rain itself. "You're... from Karasuno High School, right?"
His voice was gentle, his gaze a little uncertain. Small drops trickled from his brown hair, even though he'd tilted the umbrella to your side and was now getting slightly wet himself. His cheeks were flushed from the wind, maybe, or...
You blinked. "Yamaguchi... Tadashi?" He nodded shyly. "Yes. I didn't know if you'd still recognize me." You remembered. Vaguely. Friendly, quiet. Always near Tsukishima. Volleyball.
But more... than that, there wasn't anything back then.
"You still live here?" you asked, slightly surprised. "Hmm. I'm not far away. If you'd like, I can walk with you for a bit."
