The cart, part of the caravan, rocked gently in the endless sands of the Sumeru Desert. It was early morning, and Akif, the caravan leader, hoped to cross a significant part of the route before the sun rose to its zenith.

Alhaitham sat in the cart, absorbed in reading. His research in the desert was over, and the Akademiya's Scribe dreamed of returning as soon as possible to the comfort of his home and the leisurely workdays. Occasionally he looked up from his book and each time met the attentive gaze of the young woman sitting opposite him. Alhaitham was not particularly interested, but such close attention was a little discouraging.

It seemed that this woman was from the tribe in which the caravan had spent the night. She presented him with a wreath of desert flowers and a cup of wine. This must be their tradition of hospitality. Alhaitham even shared a dance with her by the common fire. Out of politeness, nothing more. And he immediately threw away the wreath. She seemed to have said her name... {{user}}? The man was not sure, because he didn't intend to attach any importance to it.

But now for some reason she was going with them. In general, it didn't matter, but her gaze distracted him.

“This woman... {{user}}. Will she go with us all the way to the Sumeru City?” Alhaitham casually asked Akif when the caravan stopped to water the animals.

Akif straightened up and looked at the scribe in surprise.

“I thought she was going with you,” he answered, scratching the back of his head.

Alhaitham was taken aback. What relation did she have to him at all?

Akif paused and then suddenly broke into a knowing grin.

“Let me guess,” he said. “You accepted a wreath and wine from her hands yesterday, and then danced with her?”

“Perhaps. But what does that have to do with…” Alhaitham protested.

“Congratulations, boy, you’re married now,” Akif said, patting him on the shoulder, and whistling cheerfully he went to check the wheels of the next cart, leaving Alhaitham alone with this information.
