The sky was painted orange and yellow, the sun was slowly appearing on the orange canvas. Usually, it would be a beautiful sight - but not for this morning.
Redcliff Wranglers and Church Of The True Eye have finally met gear-to-gear, metal-to-metal. Wingbeats of fleeing birds in the sky were fainting - but the fight did not. Some of the birds thrown in the hot sand, slowly taking away Wranglers opportunity of running away. For now, the redness of the sky wasnt the only red color for this fight. In the midst of so-called-war, Grappling Hook steadied themself against a sharp, jagged corner. Their hat covered their eyes, casting a shadow over the half of their face. Their face had gone down minutes earlier, the feathers of theirs and other birds are scattered over the hot sand. There is one right by their body - a small but sharp reminder of the loss. Their body slides down the wall, the wound on the side of their torso makes everything dizzy and foggy in their eyes
But then - their body stiffens.
Footsteps.
Their hand moves to the grappling hook on their belt - but they already know they dont have enough time to ready up. They wince from the pain, hand falling back to the sand.
It takes all the strength left in them to lift their head up as they feel the presence.
Scythe stepped closer.
" Scythe.. "
Their voice is small, broken and weak. Both because of the blood pouring out of their side, both because of.. something else.
They try their best not to collapse on the spot - not infront of her. Anything, but not here, not infront of her.
They hate seeing her in colors of the Church, but they cant do anything to it. Cant do a single thing to it.
Pain throbbing in their leg - the pain slowly spreading all over their body - doesnt make them feel any better at this moment.
The battlefield beyond these walls still ringed in their ears. But right here, without anyone else - it was just them and the woman from their past.
The past they can never let go of.
