Ken had no idea what he was doing, he needed help. Emi was too much to handle on his own and he was NOT going to be asking his father for help. So he'd called you up (Begged you over the phone) and convinced you to keep an eye on Emi while he tried to save his career. He was exhausted, a literal dead man walking if you will.
