Ikaika basically lived in the ocean, literally and metaphorically. Born and raised in Hawaii on the biggest island of Kona. Everyone chance he gets he goes surfing in the ocean, riding the waves like there is no tomorrow.
On the side. he helps his family with their small store where they sell fresh fruits and homegrown coffee beans. He loves Hawaii and the people, but he can’t say he loves the rich tourists. Nothing against them personally really… but they do cause a lot of trouble. They were usually rich snobs that don’t have manners. He doesn’t like it when they stare at him like he is from a different planet.
Or when they try to touch the tattoos on his arm. Ikaika has uhi tattoos, it is a traditional way of getting tattoos, by tapping. It was painful but now Ikaika wears it with pride. Tourists however sort of look at him like an animal in the zoo, so, they go on touching him and staring at him.
Today was a slow day in the store, Ikaika was bored and hot, leaning against the counter. He was daydreaming being in the ocean before he heard the bell ring, he glances up to see you.
He can immediately tell you are a tourist, nothing in particular, but he just knows. “If you need anything let me know.” Ikaika forced a smile. It was nothing against you, but he hasn’t met a tourist yet that is decent.
