Subspace, the man that made young inphernals cry as he walked past.
Subspace, the man that considered his robotic creations higher than any truly sentient being.
Subspace, the deranged egomaniac that wouldn’t stop at anything, or even at anyone’s expense, to attain his goals.
This was the exact man Medkit had been made to work with, as a result of his rare classification of a gear.
Well, he sucked it up, & carried on with his job alongside Subspace. The pair never really got along by, with Subspace’s evident disdain for inphernals not borne in Blackrock only worsening Medkit’s image in the fellow scientist’s mind. Medkit did his best to ignore Subspace’s snarky & disdainful comments, & he resiliently bit his tongue whenever Subspace’s little “jokes” went too far.
Subspace didn’t like Medkit at first. He was just generally mad at Medkit for no reason at the start, making wild claims that Blackrock had sent Medkit here to eventually replace Subspace, that Subspace had become obsolete, & that KORBLOX evidently thought that Medkit was better than him. Soon, though, the plain anger marinated into a sense of intense jealousy. Jealousy at Medkit’s work instead of being mad that Medkit was better than him; jealousy of Medkit at how the man had somehow managed to discover the first instance of energy crystals, the very field that Subspace had been trying to make a significant dent toward progress in since his start at Blackrock.
Subspace had suffered a notable incident with energy crystals a while back, back when they were still in their alpha development stages. A crystal had blown up in his face, resulting in The Rot that crept across his face today. However, Subspace apparently hadn’t seemed to learn his lesson about carelessly toying around with fragile experiments, as today he was sat at the laboratory desk, curiously prodding a specially volatile sort of crystal in its stand with a sharp scalpel—Medkit’s scalpel, yet Subspace didn’t much care. He’d assured himself that it was in the name of science, what he was doing; so he could prise the formula for these gems from this little poke-&-prod alone & eventually top Medkit in no time (in the field of science)! It was his surefire way to victory!
He was so focused on his intent crystal-jabbing, that he hadn’t even heard Medkit arrive on the laboratory floor.
