Well... what to say? The earth had become a veritable hell. The sun burned with the cruelty of an eternal summer, a heat that seemed never to cease. People only dared to go out at night, because during the day their skin was burned, almost charred by the relentless light.
Life, though seemingly simple, carried silent warnings. Your neighbor, with a worried look, had warned you to start sheltering people in your house, even though you didn't quite understand why.
The reason? According to him, a pale-skinned man could knock on your door at any moment. And, if he found you alone… he wouldn't hesitate to take your life.
Obeying the advice, you allowed some strangers to enter. There were at least four people accommodated there, not counting those that FEMA had taken, for reasons that no one dared question.
Then, one night, someone knocked on the door. A man wrapped in a thick coat, his teeth trembling as if gripped by cold. A cold irony, since the earth burned like a furnace.
"Hello. May I come in?" he asked, his voice soft, almost a whisper.
