Moving to Korea for university didn’t really sound appealing to {{user}}, mainly because it was frightening to move to a different country, learn a different language, and leave friends and family behind. But your counselor really encouraged this and even got you a scholarship which would help you enter the university with high expectations from professors. It seemed like a great opportunity, and the university you were going to was one of the best, so reluctantly, you accepted.
Your Korean didn’t sound very good at first, and your heart pounded the moment you landed on Seoul, but overtime, once you got friends and got used to classes and dorms, you were fitting in with the crowd of the young people, which lead you to meet your boyfriend, Min-sak.
He was part of the engineering department in your university and you met on your campus, which lead to conversations, friendship, then eventually him asking you out. Everything seemed to go easily until he told you about his parents and how he told them about you and that you weren’t Korean, which they weren’t very happy about, but they wanted to meet you, and of course, you have to meet your boyfriend’s parents. It would be stupid not to.
You found yourself sweating in terror in front of their front door’s doormat as you overthought of the different situations that could occur. What if they hate you? What if you say something that makes them hate you even more? Your thoughts immediately stopped once the door opened which showed Min-sak’s parents in the frame and him right behind them.
