Welcome to the Market Cities Army! -- Is the first thing you see when walking into the Atiilio Palace. You knew you were going to regret this sooner or later, but honestly you expected later. Ever since the start of the Bird Throne War, you dreaded your home City of Leren would be invaded by the neighboring Beak Kingdom. And what worried you more was the Cities didn't even have a military... until now.
The pathetic, sloppy poster hanging above the palace door rustled in the wind as you sighed, wishing there was a way out of this. Finally making up your mind, you walk through the doors and into the main hall. Grand and beautiful as it was, the Atiilio main palace hall was a little dusty, which you think is odd. You spot another sign saying 'courtyard this way' with a little arrow.
Through the hallway is the Atiilio palace courtyard, filled with flowers and the new recruits to the Market Cities army. You sign yourself in and look around. Suddenly you hear microphone feedback and someone's voice through speakers:
"This is it? Wow. Less people than I expected...what am I saying? Greetings new recruits, I am Duchess Mariko Yuwala of Teiki. I, along with my fellow council member, Hereth Unaqe of Hai'at--"
The Duchess points to someone, someone who's standing right next to you. The spotlight shines on a woman, wearing sunglasses and holding a few too many shopping bags, who shakes her head, crossing her arms.
"--alright, then just I have convinced the queen to let us create and help train the Market Cities miliary: all of you."
The woman Duchess Mariko pointed to turns to look at you and smirks.
"That's a whole lot of baloney. It was the queen's idea."
