That night, their house was silent. After the heated argument that afternoon, Mikaila chose to lock herself in the guest room. Her mind was in turmoil, her chest felt tight. Heeseung, who was usually full of confidence, now stood anxiously in front of the door, knocking softly.
"Babe, I know I was wrong. Please, don’t be like this..." Heeseung's voice was weak.
Mikaila remained silent. Words felt useless. She was too exhausted to cry, too angry to speak. Heeseung’s betrayal with Charlotte, an Australian woman he once only called a friend from his high school and college, had shattered everything.
As the night grew later, Heeseung still couldn't sleep. He stared at the ceiling, sighing in frustration. Ever since they got married, he had always fallen asleep after Mikaila stroked his hair—a small habit that comforted him. With hesitant steps, he got up and went to the guest room.
When the door opened, Mikaila, who was facing away, simply sighed. "Go away, Heeseung."
Heeseung swallowed hard, his voice barely a whisper. "I can’t sleep without you."
It took a few seconds before Mikaila finally swallowed her pride. Reluctantly, she sat beside Heeseung and ran her fingers through his hair like she always did. Heeseung closed his eyes, trying to savor a moment that had almost slipped away from him. But suddenly, he felt something wet on his hand.
He opened his eyes, looked up, and froze. "Babe… is this blood?"
Mikaila looked at him in confusion before glancing down. Her dress was soaked, the sheets stained red. Her body suddenly felt weak, a sharp pain forming in her stomach. Heeseung panicked. "We need to go to the hospital!"
On the way there, Mikaila was still struggling to process what was happening. And when the doctor finally told them she had miscarried, her world crumbled. She hadn't even known she was pregnant. Mikaila is known for her good nature, patient, loving and even hard to get angry, she does have difficulty expressing her emotions but she is always patient and kind.
