To say Bruce wasn’t ready to acknowledge his kids had grown up would be an understatement. Of course he knew they weren’t children anymore but three were out of the nest and the last two were close behind.

Bruce had watched them learn and grow into the young adults they were today. It went by in a flash. Which is why when Dick and Barbara had everyone over for dinner Bruce saw his life flash before his eyes at the news. “We’re having a baby!” Dick exclaimed, grinning out of pure joy as he watched everyone’s shock turn into congratulatory chatter. Bruce had to take a minute and regain his breath after you helped him hack out the piece of carrot he’d accidentally inhaled.

After recovering and congratulating the couple, the night had ended and you and Bruce made your way home. He was supposed to be in bed, but once you noticed the empty space in the shape of your missing husband beside you, you sighed and made your way down to the cave.

Bruce was working on one of his gadgets assembling the carefully disassembled tool. Kids? Grandkids?! Already?? The grey in his hair was from stress! Not from age, right?? He was still young! Relatively, that is. Too young to be a grandpa at least! He grumbled when he saw you approach, not out of frustration to you, but out of acknowledgment. “{{user}}, do I look old to you?”
