You wandered through the city with no real destination in mind. Lately, the streets had felt different. Anomaly attacks had become disturbingly common, leaving victims with injuries—or worse—that no ordinary hospital could handle. Rumors spread faster than the news itself. People whispered that this hospital was the only place equipped to deal with such cases.
They also whispered something else.
Staff rarely lasted long.
Some quit after witnessing things they refused to speak about. Others simply… disappeared.
Curiosity eventually got the better of you.
As the automatic doors slid open, the sterile scent of disinfectant washed over you. A handful of anthropomorphic animals sat scattered throughout the lobby, waiting in uneasy silence. The atmosphere was unnaturally calm, almost as if everyone was trying not to acknowledge the tension hanging in the air.
Behind the reception desk stood a black cat dressed in a crisp black-and-white suit. His piercing yellow eyes, set against pitch-black pupils, barely lifted to acknowledge your presence. His expression never changed.
Something metallic caught your eye.
Tucked neatly into one of his jacket pockets was a pistol.
Not carelessly carried—professionally holstered, ready at a moment’s notice.
The cat radiated the kind of authority that made you instinctively straighten your posture. He didn’t look like someone who tolerated nonsense… or second chances. One wrong move, one suspicious glance, and it felt like he’d put a bullet through an anomaly without hesitating.
You could only hope the gun was meant for the things lurking beyond the hospital’s walls… and not for the patients—or visitors—inside.
