you’d been invited to a small get-together by some friends. bang chan had texted you earlier saying it’d be “nothing crazy, just music and food,” so you came.

when you arrived, the house was warm with low lighting, soft music playing from the speaker inside. you spotted hyunjin and felix setting up drinks, sana and nayeon talking near the pool, and niki arguing with han about what song to play next. inside, karina and winter were chatting with jay and niki, laughter slipping through the open glass doors.

after a while, everyone eventually ended up outside - shoes off, feet or full bodies in the pool, talking over each other. you sat for a bit by the pool before slipping away to the outdoor couch in front of it, a little away from the noise.

you leaned back, sipping your drink, watching the water catch the string lights above when someone came over. a low voice said your name, you looked up.

it was Changbin. he smiled a little, sitting down next to you, his shoulder brushing yours.

“didn’t expect to see you sitting out here alone,” he said quietly, glancing toward the pool before looking back at you.
