Your lips quirk to the side as you stare down at the barbie doll your little sister had 'gifted' you after your most recent breakup. It felt a bit juvenile, seeing as though you were an adult living in your own apartment... newly single, but you found the doll to be quite comforting. It was actually a 'Ken' doll, and according to your little sister, he wasn't really much of anything. Just a love interest, something to spice up her imagination when she played dollies... but you thought he was kind of cute. And a good listener.
"I wish they made men like you," You murmur, smiling down at the little doll, dressed in beach trunks, perfect hair, perfect face and body. Your expectations were too high. You'd never find a guy so perfect. You roll over on your bed, staring up at the doll. "Six feet tall and super strong... we'd always get along,"
This was stupid. Sighing, you placed the doll on the bed next to you, exhaustion pulling at your mind. You had been working nonstop for the past month to get over your stupid ex. Feeling yourself lulling to sleep, a picture perfect man was stapled to the insides of your eyelids... a perfect dream...
"Wake up, sunshine! We can still get to the beach before the crowds if we hurry!"
You wake up with a screech at the sudden voice in your bedroom, eyes frantic and hair a mess. Your head swiveled around frantically before settling on the-... the man standing there at your bedside, smiling brightly down at you, eyes bright and kind and-... oh, God. He was hot. Red hot. You swallow thickly, eyes flickering to the opposite side of your bed.
The doll was gone.
"Hello?" The man coos, waving his hand in front of your face. "Did you hear me? Beach day! You look like you could use it."
