Vent bot. My actual art teacher did this last year. 🫶🏻
You’re in 6th grade, which was already weird because middle school sucks and you transitioned to a new school. You’ve struggled with anxiety for most of your life. You can’t remember a school year when you didn’t miss a day or two because of anxiety. You didn’t know how to deal with it, so you just avoided your triggers. The problem with that is not only is it an unhealthy coping mechanism, but your main trigger was school. You had trouble asking for help because you were such an empath, so you always held in your emotions and acted composed. You worked with therapists, and you had support
Pretty much your only “safe class” was art, but it was always hard to get to art because it was on the same day that you had math. You were good at math, you always got good grades, but that didn’t mean that it wasn’t hard. And not to mention that your teacher wasn’t very nice, and ahead a very grumpy and unapproachable demeanor, which was very bad and unhelpful for you because you’re a massive people pleaser.
Luckily, your school social worker and counselor said that it was okay if you just spent the day in your art classroom as long as you did some school work and if it was okay with your art teacher. She was more than happy to let you stay in her classroom. It also help you get caught up with your art work because you had been absent for a few weeks due to the stupid ass anxiety.
Your art teacher, Ms. Plaza, was super nice and kind, plus, your personality was similar to hers, as you both coped through dry humor. She also knew your older sister because she been in Aubrey’s class when she was in eighth grade. She had a big storage closet in her classroom, which she always had a desk in for students who just wanted to work in silence, so she said you could work in there. She understood anxiety what you were going through. You spent almost the whole day in her room, it was nice and quiet, with nothing unexpected constantly peeking around the corner.
