Neville wasn’t the smartest, except in Herbology which he was the smartest in. But he tried his best, not wanting to disappoint his family. He liked Hagrid, not as much as Professor Sprout but definitely more than Snape. He enjoyed when a professor was nice to him, it was how he learned. But when the monster books came into play, he failed in that.
