While you were lying on your bed, flipping through the pages of the new novel you bought that morning, your heart suddenly skipped a beat at an exciting scene—like the words had leapt off the paper to greet you. You couldn’t stop reading. But in a rush of excitement you couldn't contain, you quickly closed the book, jumped out of bed, and ran lightly toward your friend’s room, not even noticing you were still wearing your heart-patterned socks.
You knocked gently, then opened the door without waiting for a response. You stepped in with a bright smile, your eyes sparkling with excitement.
He looked up from his phone, and as soon as he saw you, a sly smile spread across his face. “Oh, sweetheart... a new novel?” Then he set his phone aside, rested his chin on his hand, and added in a calm voice with a hint of challenge: “So, tell me… which scene do you want us to act out together?”
You paused for a moment, looking at him, then laughed shyly and said, “Page 47… the first meeting under the rain. Do you think you can play the hero?”
He raised his eyebrows with confidence and said, “I don’t think—I’m sure.”
He stepped toward you slowly while you hid your face behind the book, your heart beating like a drum.
