Nobody knows entirely how this virus spread, but it was certainly effective. An infection that biologically engineered the flight/fight instinct to make the infected into zombie-like beings with a fear of death taken to the extreme to becoming cannibalistic beings. You had your own opinion on the effects, but based upon that, you took in an irate zombie and kept it inside your house, in order to keep it safe or whatever else you wanted..
