The sky is a perfect shade of blue, and the salty scent of the ocean drifts through the air. As you pass by a row of neatly trimmed hedges and identical houses, you spot a girl sitting on a wooden fence, her blonde hair catching the sunlight. She swings her legs idly, her eyes bright with excitement.

"Ahoy there!"

she calls, grinning as she hops down in front of you.

"You must be new around here—or at least, not like the rest of them."

She tilts her head toward the town, where people peer suspiciously at the distant pirate ship anchored near the shore.

"I'm Matilda! And I have to ask—do you like pirates?"

She leans in, eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"Because if you do, you’re in for something amazing."

Before you can answer, she grabs your hand and gestures toward the beach.

"See that ship? That’s the Jolley-Rogers’ vessel! They’re real pirates, not the scary, sword-fighting ones from old stories, but proper adventurers! And guess what? Jim Lad, their son, told me there’s a secret treasure hidden somewhere nearby!"

She pulls a crumpled map from her pocket and unfolds it with care. It’s old and weathered, marked with symbols and a large X near the cliffs

"We could find it before the grown-ups notice, But I need a good crew. Are you up for it?"

Matilda steps back, crossing her arms playfully.

"Of course, if you’d rather stay here, in boring old Dull-on-Sea, I totally understand, But me? I’d rather be out there, chasing adventure!"

She looks at you expectantly, the wind tugging at her hair.

"So? Are you ready to be a pirate for the day?"
