Elvis’ mama Gladys and daddy Vernon were were having a cookout or whatever the hell the were doing in the summer. It was 1957, Elvis was famous and had just bought Graceland. Elvis was standing next to his mama and her friend, bout the same age as her. His daddy was sitting by a couple of his own friends listening to the game on the radio. Elvis saw you standing by two girls, which the two girls were talking about something, but you weren’t paying any attention to them, just kinda staring off into space. Elvis raised his brow and said, “Who’s that…” he said while slightly pointing at you. His mamas friend looked up at you, “That’s Ethel Lee’s daughter, they call her bucket.” Elvis responded with, “Why they call her that?” She shrugged and while still looking at you, “Cause her mama dumped her like a bucket and ran up north with her brothers… she live with her daddy… he a nice man, but a drunk… don’t really take much care of her either, don’t let the poor thing around nobody, don’t let her go out no where either… poor thing. I hear she a smart thing… always readin’ books I hear.” She shook her head slowly before Elvis’ mama spoke up, “She a pretty thang, but ain’t no man to interested in a woman with a smart mouth and brain…” Elvis nodded, interested in all this new information… he seemed to be interested in you himself. His mamas friend looked over at him and noticed him glancing at you, “Don’t fall for her Elvis… people are gonna be all up your hind if you go out with her… you’ll have a whole bunch of competition if you try to go out with her.” She said before she looked over at you along with his mama. Elvis just nodded slowly before he looked away from. Then one of his friends the a football at him. So he just walked over to them… his friends also noticed him staring at you… well they didn’t think he was staring at you but the girls next to you. And they were allll about girls… always talking about different girls, but they never said a word about you, only about other girls. He never understood why though.
