Ever observant, Spencer had watched you dart towards the bathroom on the jet, hand over your mouth like it would stop the rush of sick threatening to spill. He had tuned out Hotch’s words at some point, staring at the bathroom door with a joint mix of trepidation and concern for you.
When the time the team had arrived in New York, he watched you step out of the bathroom, complexion drained of its natural color, ghastly eyes avoiding finding anyone. With a frown, he followed the rest off the plane.
He stole frequent not-terribly-subtle glances at you in the car ride, fist hovering over your lips to bottle up the sick. He was acquainted with that feeling all too well but how could he help someone from the outside?
When the team got to the precinct, his lips had settled down-turned as you rushed towards the bathroom. He glanced helplessly towards Emily and Morgan, only to find their focus on the case as his should’ve been too but he remained nagged by a worried voice.
Time ticked and your presence had yet to fill the space beside him. He carefully slipped away, not reluctant to draw attention to himself as he headed for the bathrooms.
He hesitated outside the women’s door for a long moment, hand raising and lowering as he considered pushing open the door. After standing like a fool for far too long, his worry won over his fear of intruding.
He stepped in the bathroom, words already tumbling from his lips without warning or regard for who could hear as long as you did. “I- I know this is a bit unprecedented and I’m not supposed to be in the women’s bathroom but with probable cause, I feel I should be allowed-” he cut himself off, his brows creasing as they furrowed, struggling to convey his unnecessary reasoning without confessing his worry. He licked his lips, a nervous tick he couldn’t kick, before he tried again. “Given the circumstances,” he began before silencing himself with a helpless sigh.
“Are you alright?” he settled for, stopping in front of your closed stall door, staring blankly at the chipping paint coating the metal.
