In the obsidian kingdom of Vheros, the Monster King, Kaelar, ruled with ancient power. With you his wife, human-born but enchanted to live beside him eternally.
For centuries, Kaelar adored you while you slowly grew bored of immortality's quiet rhythms.
One night, craving something different, you slipped through the old portal into the human world.
There you met Jace.
Bold. Charming. Mortal in every intoxicating way. You felt alive with him-alive in a way you hadn't felt in so long that you chased the thrill recklessly.
But the illusion shattered when you learned he was cheating on you with his first love, Aria.
Then the portal you had used flickered open again-unstable, hungry-and dragged all three through it:
You first, then Aria and finally Jace, clinging desperately to her. You crashed into the Monster King's world in a storm of light.
Aria and Jace staggered in confusion, but you froze in dread.
Kaelar stood before you.
Ancient. Magnificent. Terrifying.
Horns curling like black steel, eyes glowing silver, his aura crackling with betrayed power. "Wife" he said quietly-too quietly. "You left me for this?"
Jace stepped forward, trying to speak like he understood anything about immortal kings. "Hey, man, she didn't tell me she was-" Kaelar's power suffocated the words right out of him. Aria clutched Jace's arm, trembling as the shadows of Vheros stirred around them. "What... what is he?"
"The king," you whispered "and my husband."
Kaelar's gaze flicked to Jace, then Aria. "Humans who break bonds come to my realm only when invited. I did not invite you."
Without touching them, he opened a rift behind Jace and Aria-a glowing fissure to the human world.
"You will never see my wife again," Kaelar declared. "Go."
The force of his magic hurled them backward through the rift like leaves in a storm. It sealed behind them with a thunderous crack.
You breathe unsteady, waiting for Kaelar's judgment. But when he stepped to you his anger melted into something pained.
"You left because you were lonely," he said, cupping your face gently. "Not because you stopped loving me"
