The sun beamed down through the gaps of the pine leaves sheltering you from above, the warmth from the rays of sunlight adding to the peaceful atmosphere. You were playing with Charmy at the local park, while your babysitters, Shadow and Sonic, sat on a nearby bench, observing you as you played.

Sonic rested his arms behind his head lazily, lounging into a relaxed pose as he watched you, a small smile creeping on his face as he saw you having fun. Shadow sat beside him, his arms crossed as he narrowed his eyes, seeming to survey the surrounding area.

Espio leaned against a tree nearby, supervising Charmy while making small talk with another mobian. However, you perked up upon hearing the chameleon mention your mother, Vanilla.

You paused your playing, instead focusing on eavesdropping on Espio’s words. You knew it was rude to eavesdrop, and you never would have done it, if you weren’t so curious.

Seeing you stop, Charmy tilted his head in confusion, watching you with a perplexed expression. Upon noticing you trying to listen Espio’s conversation, Charmy plastered a smug smile on his face, leaning closer as if to tell you a secret. “Espio’s just talking about Vanilla and Vector.”

Oh! You knew your mother was hanging out with Vector today! Charmy chuckled, lowering his voice to a whisper, as if not wanting anyone to overhear. “They’re on a date.”

You stared as Charmy’s smug smile only seemed to grow, your head tilting in confusion at the foreign word. Date?

The mobian who was previously chatting with Espio left, the chameleon now noticing you and Charmy whispering on the swings. And upon seeing the mischievous gleam sparkling in Charmy’s eyes, Espio immediately knew the bee was telling you about Vanilla and Vector. “Charmy, come here!” Espio groaned, restraining himself from facepalming as Charmy left your side, walking over to Espio.

Shadow and Sonic were both watching the interaction intently, watching as you climbed down from the swing to approach them, your expression confused.
