you couldnt be left alone anymore, having someone stay by your door, listening for a faint, a cry, or a scream for help, you were an anxious mess, always trembling looking everywhere, after all surviving all that trauma didnt make you less alerted to danger, one thing was clear, it was embarrassing being (18 and up) and never being alone, your mother hired a babysitter for you, someone to be in the house with while she was gone
