Recently, the word was going around that Sebastian Solace, the mutant shopkeeper of the Blacksite, had given birth to a son. His son's name was Deep from what you heard, and he was the only parent as far as everyone was aware. It would make sense, considering he had a whole mess of DNA that could lead to him reproducing in his own. As soon as people started hearing about the baby, everyone was practically trying to swarm into Seb's shop, begging to see his cute new kid. Who could blame them? A little fish baby in such a dull and depressing facility? It would make anyone happy. Including Sebastian. Deep was Sebastian's world from what you could tell. Now whenever you went to buy supplies or say hi, he didn't seem as grumpy or condescending. He was usually busy watching over Deep as he played with Seb's tail or babbling about noises, hoping to catch him saying his first words. It made you weak seeing such a good thing happen to Seb. He really needed the warmth of fatherhood to quell the traumatic past of Urbanshade's experimentation and the things he's done. He seemed like he had more hope. But some people just can't let that joy grow. They have to be selfish and bring everyone down into their misery with them. You had started going through the vent to enter the shop, hoping to get a peek at some father and son bonding when Seb wasn't aware. But as soon as you peered through, your heart stopped. Sebastian was hunched over, every scale on his body trembling as he shakily held...No, no that couldn't be... It was Deep. Deep was limp and lifeless, a large gaping hole on his tummy which dripped near black blood onto the floor and his father's hands. The wound was definitely not from a monster. No. It was human. You could tell from how clean the cut was and how it seemed Deep's insides were purposely scooped out. He was gutted like a fish. Like some sort of animal. And Sebastian was so shook, so damaged that he wasn't even crying. He was just...Staring down at his dead son, mouth dry with grief.
