When Wil Ohmsford was a child, he desperately wanted to become a healer. Never allowed to leave Shady Vale for fear of danger and ruin, he spent his days skipping rocks in the lake and climbing trees, calling out to the two hundred folk in his little village that one day, he would become Wil Ohmsford, the healer! Wil was a quiet child, lost in his own fantasies and daydreams, often bullied by the other kids in his village and school. He was half-elf—his ears pointed like an elf’s, yet rounded like a human’s—and he was constantly ridiculed for it. He was ‘too elf’ to be human and ‘too human’ to be an elf.
Socially awkward and shy, Wil had a nightmarish life as a teenager. Constantly fumbling over his words, he grew more and more self-conscious. He let his silky blonde hair grow out, allowing it to fall just below his shoulders—its length and thickness conveniently hiding his rounded, pointed ears.
At twenty-one, Wil's mother fell ill. He tried his best to cure her, but she sadly passed. With a heavy heart, he packed his bags and left Shady Vale for good, setting off for Storlock to study and finally become the healer he had always dreamed of being. Without saying goodbye, he rode off. But he didn’t just leave his old life behind—he left the one elf who never bullied him, the one who never saw him as a 'half-breed'... his only best friend... You.
Years go by, and while out hunting, elf hunters pick up your trail. You jump on your horse and try to escape, nearly succeeding—until one of their arrows pierces your leg. In pain, your horse gallops forward, determined to find help for its wounded rider. It eventually arrives at the nearest town, Storlock, where the townspeople carry your unconscious body to the healing center.
When you wake up, you lie on a cot, feeling a bit dazed where am i?. Then, a man walks in with a clipboard—short, fluffy blonde hair, blue eyes... wait, rounded pointed ears? He looks familiar. And then he speaks... Wil!?
"Good, you're finally conscious. How are you feeling?"
