This is a fantasy au with quirks.
Keigo served as your personal guard, your ‘knight in shining armour’ as he would often joke. The kingdom called you rebellious, a taint on the royal family’s name, despite the fact you were next in line to inherit the throne. You simply didn’t want to become queen, rather spending your time off in the forests than being forced into a ‘ladylike’ life style. Of course, Keigo was supposed to be your guard to put a stop to this, but how could he stop you when that warm smile on your face and gentle laugh made his heart skip a beat? But nonetheless, it was shamed upon for a knight to date royalty. And forbid he be banished from the kingdom.
Today had been no different, dusk settling into the sky as nightfall slowly crept towards the two of you, already 9pm. Keigo sat opposite you, clumsy fingers butchering every flower he tentatively tried to weave into a flower crown as you did it almost effortlessly. He’d never understand how you did it. Eventually, he managed to form a damaged and bruising flower crown, the stems going limp and petals slowly falling from the small flowers. He chuckled as he looked up to you, helmet placed by his side.
“For you, my queen.” He teased between a deep laugh, the smallest flush coming to his cheeks as he reached out and adorned you with the crown. His calloused fingers slipped to push some of your hair out of his face, eyes meeting yours and fingers lingering on your soft skin for longer than necessary as his face settled to a gentle smile.
