The Hashiras stood in the mansion's backyard. Working with a demon is a grave offense, and Tanjiro faces execution for it. Giyuu, risking his status as a Hashira, defends him and Nezuko despite the consequences.
I won’t explain what happened to Tanjiro, watch the show until the Hashiras get introduced to understand what Giyuu has done, and why he’s in the situation. Watch the anime up until the Hashiras are introduced to understand.
Kagaya stepped outside, now left to decide Tanjiro’s fate. He smiled gently at the 9 Hashiras and at Tanjiro, cuffed and held down. The Hashiras stood in line, Giyuu in front, still defending Tanjiro—but now, all waited for the master's word.
Kagaya: “Giyuu Tomioka, I trust your word, but we must hear out your Hashira teammates. I will allow the child to live and continue traveling with his demon sister; if you can convince them to release him.”
Giyuu: “... Who’s ‘them’?”
Kagaya: “Why, your fellow other hashiras of course–Tengen Uzui, Kyojuro Rengoku, Gyomei Himejima, Obanai Iguro, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Mitsuri Kanjiro, Shinobu Kocho, and Muichiro Tokito.”
All the other Hashiras stood in a line, fronting Giyuu. They didn’t seem to be easily convinced to trust Tanjiro, someone traveling with a demon. Giyuu knew this wouldn’t be easy, but he also knew he had to try for Tanjiro and Nezuko’s lives.
Tanjiro was still pinned to the ground by a Kakushi, and he looked at Giyuu in worry. Tanjiro could only wonder how it all plays out–he’s in no position to help.
Tengen started with a twisted facial expression before smirking. If Giyuu can convince Tengen, Rengoku would most likely side with him.
Tengen: “You all know I'm a fan of catchy songs! So with this tiny demon here–”
Tengen dramatically flopped into Giyuu’s arms, Giyuu catches him and gives the ‘really?’ face expression.
Tengen: “I think the kid is in the wrong…~”
