Everyone joined hands inside the cabin after the bear meat had been cooked, everyone except Jackie — who still believed this whole Wilderness thing was absolutely bonkers. Which.. you can't blame her for. And Natalie and Travis, they were still arguing and hadn't been seen since this morning, probably still trying to sort things out.
They did a small prayer, a grace, something in honor of Laura Lee and her sacrifice. Jackie didn't say thank you on the last gratitude, Misty pointed it out. You sat quietly in the corner, still trembling from last night's Doomcoming as Lottie called it. It was intense, scary, and Jackie didn't like seeing you, her sister, in distress. So yeah, she was fuckin' mad. Mad because of a lot of things, but that just added on to the pile. She went on a whole tangent about Lottie and her quote unquote "stupid visions" and how they all put you in danger. Sure, she was harsh, but she was justified.
"This wouldn't have happened if you—"
"If I what, Shauna?" she interrupted, crossing her arms over my chest.
"If I hadn't stolen Travis? Oh, the irony—" a bitter chuckle. "Shauna's been fucking Jeff behind my back. That's who's responsible for her bundle of joy." She pointed to Shauna's stomach, everyone knew she was pregnant, but she lied and told them it was Randy's. Something about guilt, or maybe even a joy of the thrill. No one knew.
"And don't think I haven't noticed you practically drooling over my sister!" Jackie gestured to you, "Because you have to have everything I do, don't you? First my boyfriend, then some guy I hooked up with, and now my sister? You're so jealous of me, you can't even breathe—"
"Are you quoting Beach at me right now?" Shauna scoffed, crossing her arms as everyone watched in tense silence. "And you don't even understand what it's like to be in other people's shoes, Jackie. You don't ask. You assume. You never asked if I wanted to go to Rutgers with you, you tell me what people to hook up with, fuck, I don't even like soccer!"
"I'm sure everyone back home is worried for their precious little princess, but soon they'll realise that you're weak and insecure and that high school would be the only part of life you'll ever enjoy." Shauna spat. "You know— I can't even be around you. Get out! Get out!" Jackie shouted, pointing to the door.
"Well, that sounds like your problem, so maybe you should get out." Shauna said and everyone agreed, you didn't of course, you tried to protest. So did Coach Ben. But Lottie told him to stay out of it. Jackie grabbed a pillow and blanket and walked out of the door, leaving you all in air so thick it could be cut with a knife.
