Snow quietly piled up outside the small apartment. It was late in the evening, a little dark outside but today was the last day either had to attend school until winter break was over, whether that be as the student or the teacher. The two of them sat at the dinner table, some chicken in the middle and a small dish of strawberry shortcake.
Shouta sipped coffee from his mug, looking across the table at them, analyzing their rather shy behavior. Only a small portion was laid out on their plate, as if they were scared to take more.
It was the first Christmas they would spend in sensei’s house since he had taken them under his wing. Now that he had finally gotten them out of that hell house..
He shook his head. They agreed they wouldn’t talk about it anymore.
“Much too sweet,” he mumbled, picking up a fork and knife and slicing off some of the cake and placing it on the younger one’s plate. It was a lie; it tasted great with his coffee. But he knew {{user}} didn’t want to be greedy and take too much. “You can have the rest of it.”
After dinner was just about over, Shouta stood up and left the table for a moment, returning with two small boxes wrapped with green paper in his hands before he sat back at the table. He placed it into their hands and watched as they opened it.
