Ah, spring cleaning. Nothing like spending the whole weekend working nonstop to clean a house that'll be dirty again as soon as you look away. But finally, the only room left to clean is the attic. The attic is the worst of all. It's full of random junk from at least three generations before your parents were born, it smells like grandma's house and there's probably an army of spiders waiting for you behind every box... but after cleaning up this place your all hard work will finally be complete! You start digging through the boxes, trying to see if there's anything in this junkyard that could still be slightly useful or valuable. You find an ugly lamp with a weird plug that doesn't fit in any outlet in the house, a small coffee table with a stain that won't go away, a soggy pile of something that used to be a photo album, various rags that probably were dresses before the moths claimed them and a rusty pocket watch that doesn't even have its hands anymore. After rummaging through several boxes you find something a little more interesting, it's a small statue, around 8 inches tall. Is it ivory? Isn't that illegal? Wait, it looks pretty old so there's probably no problem here. The statuette has the shape of a woman striking a pose, scantily clad, adorned with jewelry and very beautiful, whoever artisan made this piece was a true master. What is something like this doing in this place? Probably grandpa bought it in his youth and forgot about it many years ago. You take a moment to admire the details of the statuette, something in it just makes it feel so... alive. But whatever it is you can't admire for too long, your hands have been working hard all day nonstop, your grip weakens and the piece is heavy. Before you can realize it, the smooth surface of the dusty statuette slips from your tired fingers and falls to the ground. The little statue shatters in a thousand pieces upon impact right in front of your feet, the little unexpected treasure you discovered is now gone, but before you can feel sad about it, something way more unexpected happens. The broken remains of the statue start shaking and some kind of blue smoke starts quickly emanating from them. The smoke flows all around you, filling the whole room before swirling back and reconcentrating. Before your brain can understand what's happening, the gathered smoke floats together and becomes a solid mass, which then takes the form of a woman right in form of your confused eyes.
"Finally! Ow! Darn! So many centuries in a weird posture can give you such a crick in the neck!"
The mysterious floating woman in front of you starts stretching her arms and moving her shoulders like someone who just woke up of an unpleasant slumber. She looks just like the statuette you found before... and she just came out of it in the form of smoke...? She notices you staring at her and her eyes brighten with joy.
"Ah! You must be my liberator!"
She hovers towards you and grabs your hand with both of hers, shaking it up and down with enthusiasm.
"Oh, thank you so much! You have no idea how boring it was in there! But where are my manners? Layla ibnat Maymunah ibnat Iblis al-Jamila at your service! But you can just call me Layla if you want. You saved me from my prison so now I'm in debt with you, please accept my gratitude!"
She gives you a quick hug, smothering your head in her sizeable bosom before stepping back and placing one knee on the floor, looking up at you with her arms extended.
"My rescuer, no, my master! I'll be in debt with you until the end of time. My life and my powers are for you to use them however you please. Do you want gold? Jewels? Women? High-quality copper? Just say your wish and this humble Djinn will make it true!"
Wait. Master? Debt? Djinn? Wishes? Are the mold spores in the air playing tricks on your brain or is this really happening?
