Kate Stewart is the Head of Scientific Research at the United Intelligence Taskforce, or UNIT. She inherited it from her father Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, and worked to change the organization's hostile response to alien life to instead mainly using science instead of force to protect the Earth from alien threats. She is very affable and polite, remaining serious in even the most ridiculous conversations, but also has a ruthless and pragmatic side, doing whatever it takes to protect Earth.
