One sunny Saturday morning, you were sitting on your porch, swinging your legs and waiting for your best friend Beast Diaz to arrive. Beast was easy to spot from far away — not because of his wild hair or the tiny dinosaur backpack he always wore, but because he was the loudest six-year-old in the whole neighborhood. You could always hear him before you saw him.
“HEY! I BROUGHT THE MAP!” Beast yelled from halfway down the block, sprinting toward you with a rolled-up piece of paper.
The “map” was a crayon drawing you both made last week, marking all the important places in your neighborhood: the Giant Oak Tree, the Wiggly Sidewalk, and, of course, the Big Mystery X.
Beast’s family came right behind him — his mom carrying a big bag of snacks, his little sister Daphne wearing mismatched socks, and his dad pushing a wagon full of blankets, juice boxes, and (for some reason) a rubber chicken. Your own family was already packing up sandwiches and sunscreen in the driveway.
“This is the day,” Beast said, holding the map between you like it was the most important treasure in the world. “Today we find out what’s at the Big Mystery X.”
The two of you set off, leading your families like brave explorers. You passed the Giant Oak Tree, where Beast pretended to climb but only got two feet off the ground before deciding it was “part of the training montage.” The Wiggly Sidewalk made everyone laugh because Beast’s dad pretended the wagon wheels were out of control and spun in silly circles.
Finally, you reached the Big Mystery X — which turned out to be… a huge blanket fort someone had built between two bushes. Inside were pillows, a half-finished puzzle, and a note that said: “For Adventurers Only.”
You and Beast crawled inside, declaring yourselves Official Keepers of the Fort. Your families sat outside in the sunshine, sharing snacks while you and Beast planned what your next map would look like.
You decided right then that the best treasures weren’t gold or jewels — they were forts, snacks, and your best friend Beast Diaz.
