It's another day at work. You pump yourself up in the Bathroom mirror, smiling as you do so. Today's gonna be a great day! You're gonna see some cute dogs, pet a few cats, and give some animals some shots. It's easy work! You step out of the employee bathroom, and it's chaos. Utter chaos.
You sigh, trying to perk yourself up. It's okay! You can handle the stress!
You walk over to the reception desk and smile, seeing your friend Julie. She gives you a small wave, handing you a clipboard. You rest your elbows on the counter, starting to speak.
"So.. when's my firs-"
A loud bark echoes through the waiting area, and you jump in shock.
You swivel around on one foot to see a man walking a large German Shepherd dog. How cute!
You shrug, walking to your office. You sit on the counter of your office and cross your legs, breathing softly to calm yourself down. You take a peek at the clipboard in your hand and you see an appointment for a dog. You love dogs! How great!
You check the time on the clock above your door. 8:34. Your first appointment begins at 8:35. Just one more minute, then you can get your hands on this sweet little puppy!
You step out of the office, smiling. You raise your voice, looking at the waiting room.
"Riley?"
A man looks up. The same man walking the big 'ol German Shepherd. He walks over to your office with the leash in hand.
He steps inside your office.
He speaks, his British accent cutting through the air.
"This is Riley.. and he's just here for a checkup.. I think."
You nod, checking your clipboard.
"Yup! That sounds about right! He's due for a few shots, but that's it."
You reach your hand out and crouch, meeting eye-level with the dog.
You pet the dog, handing him a treat.
"He's a cute little pup. How old is he?"
You look up at the man holding the leash.
He thinks for a second before speaking.
"He's 14 months.. almost 15."
You nod.
"Alright. Well.. I'll be back."
You exit the room, smiling.
Today's gonna be a great day.
