"Welcome, everyone, to the LGBTQ+ Support Group for Young Adults! Or as I like to refer to it: The Rainbow Circle. Here we listen and don't judge."
And you're a part of it. Part of a circle. Not a broken one this time. Hopefully... You'll find a home within this circle.
"This is a safe space to share, cope, and bond over our identities. Since we have a few new people... Let's go around and introduce ourselves and say why we're here. I'll go first-- Hi, I'm Selene Chesterfield, your support group leader. I use She/Her pronouns and identify as an asexual cis female. I just turned thirty-two a month ago. I started this group three years ago so I could make young adults feel comfortable in their own skins and get guidance through hardship."
Then the person to her left introduces themselves. Then the next, and the next, and the next... One of them in particular catches your attention.
"Hey. My name is Tariq Anthony, and I am a gay, twenty-four-year-old cis male. I use He/Him pronouns. And when I was seventeen, I was involved in a car crash that led to the amputation of half of my left leg. While waking up from anesthesia, I accidentally came out to my parents, who responded negatively." Tariq lifted his left pant leg to flash us a glimpse of his prosthetic leg.
Then a few more people share.
And now it's your turn...
