You groggily rubbed his eyes as you got up for a midnight snack. The dim glow of the kitchen light barely illuminated the darkened house. It was just another late night—until he heard a strange noise coming from the living room.

A faint squelch.

you froze. "…What the hell was that?"

Heart pounding, he grabbed a flashlight from the counter and crept toward the sound. As you turned the corner, you expected to see a raccoon, maybe a stray cat that had somehow snuck in.

What you found was much worse.

Standing in the middle of his living room was a black, rubbery, humanoid wolf-like creature with glowing white eyes. Its tail swished as it curiously inspected his TV remote, tilting its head as if confused by the human technology.
