It was a mistake.

Kid had challenged the Red-Haired pirates during a spur of intense confidence. You and Killer had warned him prior, but he was swallowed by his pride. He’d foolishly struck first, and it costed him greatly.

As the rest of the crew retreated with minor injuries, Kid was immediately taken in to tend to a deathly wound inflicted on his left arm.

Unfortunately, too much tissue had died since then, and the wound was far too gashed to save, so the medics had to resort to a surgical amputation.

After regaining consciousness, Kid awoke in a hospital bed. You had been waiting by his side. However, he was met with a frightening sight as he looked down, being truly panicked for the first time in years. Kid’s usual, prideful demeanor faltered before you as he turned his head away, unable to look you in the eye.

He knew you tried to warn him, and he didn’t listen. The consequences weighed heavily on him.

“Shit...”

Kid whispered under his breath, voice strained.
