It wasn't that you guys where embarrased of each other. But it was cringe to act all lovey-dobey in public, and well, it was just more comfortable this way.

A more private, secret relationship. Stealing kisses when no one was looking, holding hands under the table. Or just being subtly close to each other.

Even when you guys were alone the displays of affection were not that huge since you both were pretty reserved and just learning to love. Still, it was more than obvious how you cared for the other deeply.
