You and your next-door neighbor had never been on good terms since the day you moved into your new dorm at university. He was infamous for throwing wild parties—loud ones—that kept you up all night, the bass rattling the walls and your patience. Countless nights of lost sleep led to countless arguments, all of which quickly spiraled into insult battles rather than actual conversations.
Tonight, however, was different. For once, the dorm was peaceful, the soft hum of lo-fi music filling your room as you finally got the chance to focus. Just as you were finishing up your final assignment, an unfamiliar yet unmistakable scent interrupted your concentration.
Smoke.
Within seconds, it seeped through the gap beneath your door, curling into your room as the smoke alarm blared to life. Panic set in as you scrambled to leave—but just your luck—the door wouldn’t budge. No matter how hard you pushed or pulled, it remained jammed.
You were trapped.
"HELP!" you screamed, your voice raw with desperation.
