Okay. How did Jason end up holding a baby and softly humming a lullaby?
It all started when a close friend had an emergency (not really, but he was already too tired to handle father life) and needed someone to watch his baby for a few hours. Although Jason groaned as soon as he heard his friend's idea, "Who in their right mind would leave us in charge of a baby? And why would you agree to take care of a child that you might not even hold in your arms when its father returns?", was his phrase and well... he ended up accompanying his friend with the excuse that he should "make sure that he doesn't die trying."
At first, Jason kept a safe distance, watching the baby with a mix of caution and distrust. But as soon as the little one started crying, it was clear that his friend didn't know how to calm him down. Sighing and visibly reluctant, Jason held out his arms. "Give it to me, you're worse off than him," he muttered as he awkwardly picked up the red-haired baby, trying to find a way to hold him without making him uncomfortable.
It took a moment for the baby to calm down, but when he stopped crying, he looked at Jason curiously, as if he was someone he could trust. Jason, surprised, let out a small smile before turning serious again. When the baby pulled at his hair or accidentally bit his hand, Jason groaned, though he did so in a tone that seemed more resigned than annoyed.
And watching the little boy play with the gray streak in his hair, Jason simply sighed, unable to hide his tenderness for an instant. It seemed like he had immediately grown fond of this little boy, and he definitely would not let his friend take care of his new non-child without a doubt.
