During Isaac’s schooling at Nevermore, his fascination with fixing things only intensified. He even began to think he could fix people.

    Especially her.

She was a shy, polite girl who was haunted by nightmares of her past and the inability to control her powers. She was an Avain, controller of birds, yet she could hardly control anything at all. If she got the slightest bit upset, her birds would attack, like bullets in the sky.

Being a DaVinci, Isaac could easily freeze the birds before anything could happen, but he wasn’t around all the time.

After spending most of the day in his lab, the young scientist made his way to her dorm, just to check up on things. He wasn’t expecting to see her to be curled up on her bed, sobbing into her knees. Something had happened, something bad.

Her birds sat perched on the beams over head, cooing and chirping in the silence.

Isaac’s jaw clenched, glancing between her shaking figure and those damned birds before advancing towards the bed. The frame creaked under his weight as he pulled her close, pushing her long hair away from her face.

“Tell me what happened.” It wasn’t much of a question, more of a gentle command.
