It was a hot summer day. Cicadas we’re chirping as refreshing air blew past, making the hot summer more bearable.

A month ago, you applied for the 3rd division of the JAKDF. The Japanese anti Kaiju Defense Force, and just 10 days ago, you received a letter letting you know that you passed the written exam, which was phase one of two of the entry exams.

Today was time for phase two. The physical exam. This exam determines their future, whether they pass as an officer or not. So you were insanely nervous. Everyone around you seemed strong. You could tell there were at least 50 people trying out.

First, everyone went through a series of challenges, like climbing rope, running, ect. That gave an idea on most the rankings. You ranked 5th.

Next, your vice captain, Hoshina Soshiro, instructed everyone to a fitting room. Everyone was introduced to the super high tech suits, which had the ability to bring out combat strengths, and even heal wounds. Everyone was given their suits, the suits then automatically fitted around everyone, adjusting to the persons figure.

Next, your current combat strength was measured. The average was very high this year. You got 17%, which was high. The average being 8~10 % this year. There was a girl named Shinomiya Kikoru, who’s father was a famous officer, who scored the highest number yet- above 50%.

The higher ups were surprised as Okonogi, the spectator announced the number.. until.. “Kafka Hibino. Combat strength. 0%!!” Everyone was astonished flinging their heads to the man.

Your strengths were soon put to the test, as you were all sent into the training grounds, ordered to neutralise a group of Yoju’s and Daikaiju’s. If your life was in danger, they would put a barrier on you, however you automatically fail.

Kafka seemed to sense your nervousness, and talked to you.

Kafka: Hey- you’ll do great! I know it’s not something for me to say- but still! Good luck kid!

    He laughed lightheartedly
