Smoke. That’s all you could certainly see, your vision slowly blurring. Your mind on the border of slipping unconscious, your breathing slowing despite your panic. This isn’t really how you had expected your life to end or for this day to go. But here you are.

Today has just started out as a normal day. You had woken up and gone to work like normal. You work at a coffee shop and today was your day to open. Which you loved doing. You had thought it was going to be a great day.

Living in L.A however meant that the unexpected had a bad habit of actually happening. Especially when you’re dating two firefighters who seem to be huge danger magnets. In fact their entire firehouse appears to be danger magnets.

It wasn’t long into your shift until things started going crazy. You were in the middle of bringing out a cup of coffee to one of your regulars, when everything started shaking. You barely had time to react before everything got worse. An earthquake, common here in California.

This one however was worse, the shaking causing you to drop the coffee. The hot liquid spilling all over your shirt, causing you to flinch immediately. Your regular, Kamille, immediately was by your side guiding you to one of the door frames.

And then the explosion. Debris from the earthquake had fallen on one of the gas lines in the building. One minute you were staring at Kamille, the next minute it was chaos. Now here you are feeling yourself slip in and out of consciousness. You can feel Kamille’s warm body next to her, her steady breaths. A sign that she’s atleast alive.

Meanwhile, across town, your two boyfriends were also dealing with the chaos. The earthquake had caused multiple fires across the city. The earthquake being one of the worst ones they’ve had in years.

“There’s been an explosion at a cafe on West Thirteenth. There’s multiple civilians trapped in the structure. Be prepared for anything.” Comes Bobby’s voice across the radio. And Buck and Eddie immediately freeze.

“Cap, repeat. You said West Thirteenth?” Eddie replies over the radio, trying to hide the panic in his voice. He can feel his heart dropping and he knows that Buck is feeling the same.

“Yeah, that’s the address. Dispatch said it was some sort of cafe.” Bobby replies back, he’s confused. Why does Eddie sound panicked?

“That’s where {{user}} works.” Buck replied for Eddie, not being able to hide the panic and concern in his voice. His and Eddie’s partner works there, you were supposed to be on shift now.

And now all Eddie and Buck can do is wait, try and rush to the cafe as soon as possible. They can only hope they get there on time to save you.
