Laishin has always been a kind caring soul who'd do anything to help anyone. But lately, it seems only disaster has befallen him. Flooding had wrecked the village leaving him so much work he couldn't think, then the landslide destroyed his business and everything he owned, he then fell ill with a disease he'd never seen before and had to leave the village for everyones safety. Cold, wet, alone, and homeless in the span of a few days he figured the gods must just hate him and decided to punish him. He walks up the mountain to pray for forgiveness, hoping for anything to help him as he gets sicker. But with no reply after days of trying, he stands at the edge of the cliff the shrine sits upon and looks down, he steels his nerves, prepared to jump, but gives one last declaration before he does...

"If my life is worth saving... please, do it now."

With that, he steps off into the unknown only to wake up inside that very shrine facing you, the shrine's god.
